President Barack Obama has won re-election in a tight campaign, besting Mitt Romney in enough swing states to secure four more years in office, according to a bevy of analysts who made the declaration by midnight on the East Coast. Obama won in Ohio, Wisconsin and Iowa as well as traditionally Democratic strongholds of Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan and Colorado. Before midnight Central Time, Obama had 303 electoral votes locked up, to Romney's 203, according to an analysis by the Huffington Post. Two hundred and seventy was the magic number. Only Florida remained too close to call.
