Tickets are on sale at the library for a formal tea that will be held in December in honor of the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens. Similar to the library’s Victorian Tea that was held in February, the Dicken’s Tea will be a sit-down affair. It will feature three kinds of soup and bread, scones, chocolates, dessert and cookies, organizers say. The tea is a fundraiser for the North Platte Public Library Foundation. The cost is $20 per person and seating is limited to 40 at each sitting, so seats are limited to the first ticket holders. The tea will be held four times: • Thursday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. • Friday, Dec. 7 at noon and at 5:30 p.m. • Saturday, Dec. 8 at noon. Soups will be pumpkin, Tuscan potato and chicken noodle. Breads will be savory, wheat/oatmeal and white. Plain and herb butters will be served. Plain and variety scones will be served with lemon curd and homemade jam. A holiday variety of cookies and desserts will be served.
