Ohio: Charges of rigged election machinesTell North Platte what you think

On Monday, Robert Fitrakis, a Green Party congressional candidate and professor of political science, filed a lawsuit in federal court to stop the last-minute reprogramming of voting machines used by 80 percent of Ohio voters.

In the final weeks of this election, the Ohio Secretary of State authorized the installation of a "software patch" that has never been publicly evaluated, Fitrakis and his supporters say.

Tampering with voting machines is a violation of federal law.

The lawsuit was heard in court first thing Tuesday morning. A federal judge said hed issue a decision by about noon Tuesday, according to a report in Politico. He flatly dismissed the lawsuit.

Greens have done this before. In 2004, Green presidential nominee David Cobb filed for a presidential recount in Ohio, a step that led to the conviction of Ohio election officials as well as substantial improvements in election procedures, according to Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala, Green Party candidates for president and vice-president.

"We are watching Ohio, Wisconsin, Colorado, Virginia, Florida, and other states again. And we are acting," Stein and Honkala said.

On Friday, Ohioans staged a protest in front of their state capitol.

On Monday, Stein appeared at the National Press Club in support of the Ohio lawsuit. More than 500 media organizations have reported on it, according to the Green party.
