A soup supper will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Eagles Club to benefit Kendra Burkholder, a second-grade teacher who was badly injured in July in a gas grill explosion. Burkholder, who teaches second grade at Hall School, has undergone several skin grafts and other procedures since the accident. After recovering at Madonna Rehab Hospital in Lincoln, she is now home and is expected to be at the fundraiser. "She’s doing really well, but she has a long road ahead to recover," organizer Shelley Shore of the North Platte Jaycees said. "She will have to go through months of therapy to regain her mobility and strength." The Eagles Club is at 620 N. Chestnut St. Teams are welcome to enter the soup cook-off for a $25 fee. All soups are welcome. Admission on Sunday is $6 per adult, $4 per child 12 years old and younger, with toddlers 3 and younger admitted free. To pitch in with a team or donate, contact Shore at 535-6740, ext 3138 or at 534-0125, or call Linda Shea at 308-532-9362.
