The D&N Event Center has come alive for nearly a week with the screams of the dead and frightened. The Junior Belles softball team’s “Maniac Manor” provided a good scare and a lot of fun for all comers. As a fundraiser, it was a success too. Organizer Christy Miller said that the manor was packed with visitors during the weekend. As of Tuesday evening, more than 700 people had been subjected to the ghoulish scares, more than $3,500 had been raised and people were still filing in. A lot of work and time had been put in by all the volunteers to put together a labyrinth of passageways and chambers, all designed to bring out goose bumps and screams. As visitors pass through a fog filled darkness all kinds of goblins make sure no one got comfortable and stayed long in any one spot. As Jacob Karre and his mom exited the “Maniac Manor” Tuesday, he had a wide-eyed look and said “that scared me real good -- but boy was it fun.” The manor is open on Halloween from 6-9 p.m.
