Prosecutors said DiGiovanni was involved in thefts from Miller Repair from November 2011 through October 2012, Deputy Lincoln County Attorney Austin Leighty said in Lincoln County Court. Leighty didn’t specify the stolen items or amounts, but the total was enough to charge DiGiovanni with another felony charge.

Digiovanni asked for a court-appointed attorney and Judge Kent Turnbull assigned Patrick Hays to the case. Turnbull also added another $10,000 bond, consecutive to DiGiovanni’s $10,000 previous bond.

His next court hearing is set for Nov. 1.

DiGiovanni and Kyer Feeney of North Platte are suspected in several thefts. DiGiovanni was initially arrested after a woman working the harvest south of Maxwell told law officers that her purse was stolen from her car while she was working, Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer said.

Another person in the field saw a vehicle nearby and later saw it again at an Interstate-80 lake near Maxwell, the sheriff said. Deputies stopped the vehicle as it was leaving the lake. DiGiovanni was driving. The sheriff said deputies found some of the woman’s property and other suspected stolen items in the vehicle, including a laptop that was reported missing in August after the Maxwell school was burglarized.

Deputies found a place at the lake where DiGiovanni apparently tried to burn the purse along with some of his own personal paperwork. Deputies found the papers under the partially burnt purse, the sheriff said. When investigators searched DiGiovanni’s house, they found four more laptops that were missing from the school.

Maxwell school officials reported a burglary during the night Aug. 12. Kyer Feeney is thought to have been the prime burglar. He was arrested Oct. 16 and remains in jail on a $25,000 bond. He was scheduled for to appera in court Tuesday, but the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office postponed his appearance because more charges against him are pending.

Both men are also suspected in thefts in Frontier and Logan Counties and investigators are working to sort it out, Sheriff Kramer has said.
