Kerrey has nearly caught Fischer in the race for the U.S. Senate. According to an Omaha World Herald poll released Oct. 29, he trailed Fischer by just 3 percentage points.

Both candidates are expected in North Platte Friday -- Kerrey at 9:30 a.m. and Fischer will arrive at 3:30 p.m., according to their publicists.

Fischer will appear Friday morning at an Omaha airfield with Sen. John McCain, the 2008 presidential candidate. Sen. Mike Johanns, Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy and Rep. Adrian Smith will accompany her in North Platte.

Kerrey, the Democrat, appeared a week ago with former Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel. Kerrey has also been endorsed by independent Senator and 2004 vice presidential candidate Joe Lieberman.

Kerrey also picked up endorsements from moderate Democrat Sens. Joe Manchin and Mark Warner -- two senators that Fischer has said she could work with if she is elected.

This report was revised from an earlier look at the polls and endorsements, posted Tuesday. It has been reposted so talkbackers can continue the discussion. Stay tuned for more on this epic, multi-million dollar campaign. - Editor.

I voted for Fisher over Bruning...after hearing and reading the court case against the Kimes I decided to write a couple of equations. Kerry = Integrity. Fisher = Self serving puppet Republican hack. Kerry = Decorated Vet. Fisher = Adverse Possession Civil Case against elderly neighbors. I could go on but won't...

It never ceases to amaze me that people refuse to consider the honesty and integrity of a person who is willing to uproot his family and move them halfway across the country at the request of his political party...and they question the character and integrity of his opponent? sheesh

I cant stand either one of them. Their commercials are ridiculous, mudslinging, and immature. Sounds like siblings fighting.

I think that George and the Bulletin do a great job of presenting the candidates of every campaign, without bias or mudslinging. Keep it up!

Sorry George. In today’s Telegraph, 3rd section, page 1, there is a ¾ page ad, a for Fischer ad, by the “The National Right to Work Committee”. For all you Railroad workers, retiree’s, and union families, and other union workers, here it is, spelled out in black and white, Fischer does not support your lively hood. Senator Bob Kerrey supports working families for good pay and benefits and for your safety. Senator Kerrey supports FELA. Try to live on Workers Comp, if you have a career ending disability. What health insurance company will take an un-insurable person, if you lose the companies insurance coverage? Vote today for you and your family’s future.

I am not so sure independent moderate applies to you with all the past political post and comments. If you walk, talk and hate like a conservative...well you might be a conservative. lol I don't know about everyone else but is it Nov 7th yet? Man o man I cant wait for nov 7th!!

Clyde,if you only knew half of what you think you do try this on.Memories of a Massacre parts 1 and 2 from cbsnews.com,Semperfi98, thank you for your service but as we in the military all know all things done while on a mission are part of the job. terry1951 I am not quit that old to have served in the Vietnam conflict but was a member in the early 80's and Red zone means a unsecured area outside the official military post. And finally Negirl I am proud to say that I am neither Republican nor Democrat but a interdependent moderate who by the way have also voted and am glad to say I canceled out your vote thanks for the music little off key though.

I find nebreds statements offensive. He should be ashamed of himself for speaking about another veteran like that. Hes just another angry conservative mad that Kerrey has closed the gap right before election day and has a real shot at being elected. I voted yesterday and proud to say Kerrey got my vote. (rubbing my finger and thumb together playing the worlds smallest violin for big bad nebred) I even appreciate your service nebred. thanks for that!! To bad you have to be so hateful most of the time.

nebred - In what part of Vietnam did you serve in Delta Force? What is the meaning of “Red Zone” when you are on a mission?

Former presidential candidate Kerry served proudly and courageously in the Viet Cong infested waters of the Mekong Delta during the Viet Nam War I too am very proud of our vets and all the service men but what does that have anything to do with running negative ads? Is Kerry going to spend our money the way he is spending money to have people search for anything that may be true(or not) I also had a land dispute with a neighbor and we are still friends!!!

I have always been grateful to veterans for their service to our country. My admiration of veterans has been severely tarnished the past several years beginning with the "swift boat veterans for truth". These scumbags trashed the reputation of their former "brother in arms" John Kerry. Former presidential candidate Kerry served proudly and courageously in the Viet Cong infested waters of the Mekong Delta during the Viet Nam War while opponent George W. Bush was protecting against the invasion of Lousiana. Yes, I have heard these veteran scumbags that put down Bob Kerrey's service that cost him half a leg in Viet Nam. Scum like this make me proud to say "I never served".

Bob Kerry was a very good gov and sen for this state. I liked Deb Fischer before she was endorsed by the TParty. I find these people to far out there and she now has all the talking points down. I will vote for the person who I think will be good for me and my community and I just don't think Ms Fischer is it.

Hey ashamed delta force! Will you post a link to your info as this could be good for the Fischer campaign. It's probably as factual as your résumé.

are you kidding, are you kidding? We've done major artcles about both candidates. We've not reported much of the mudslinging, (in my opinion too much from each side) abnd we've reported both candidate's plans for reforms. Three polls have Kerrey within 3-5 points. The World Herald recently endorsed Fischer, no reason to think they would commission a skewed poll. Pharos Research Group released another poll Monday of likely voters taken from October 26-28, with Kerrey at 47 percent and Deb Fischer at 49.7 percent.

maybe because he has talked about that and it has been known for years, unlike fischer's actions.

To all who think Bob Kerry is a good man you need to also look in to his past as well. Mr. Kerry when a service member was the leader of a group of seals who killed Innocent women and children, while on a mission. This is a fact and can be looked up also, wonder why we don't hear anything about this? that is why he pulled out of consideration for a higher office years ago,as he did not want this to come out. So we got someone who sued her neighbors (happens everyday) or some one who killed unarmed people. I know who I am going to vote for. FYI I am a former Delta force member and am ashamed of what he did!

What are the internals of this poll? There have been problems with statewide polls in other states where they have + 6 or +9 Democrat turnout and produce a distorted view of the race. I understand that the Bulletin has been little more than an adjunct to the Kerrey campaign but to do a proper job of political reporting we need more than a few numbers and hysterical headlines.

Have you noticed that the Deb Fischer ads don't refute Kerrey's ads? It's because they are true. Thank goodness we have someone with great character like Bob Kerrey to vote for!

Dirty gossip? More like cold, hard facts. The depositions and other filings are public record. Why don't you read them?

I WILL ABSOLUTELY VOTE FOR BOB KERREY. If you all would just read lawsuit and the legislative bill that Fischer sponsored regarding the Kime's land, you would see that she does not have Nebraska's interests at heart. (It's online if anyone really wants to know the truth) Look it up. I think it DOES show her greed. It wasn't Bob that found that info, but it was given to him and it's on the record. OMG. Bob Kerrey is great for Nebraska! And what has she promised Joe Ricketts in order to get hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign money! Look it up!

So he is going up in the polls by spreading dirty gossip form jealous neighbors. Great I wouldn't vote for him based on this unethical dirty campaign. That says a lot more about him than some exagerated story from someone who has a grudge or politically motivated gossip.

Kerrey says that the elderly couple spent $40,000 for attorney fees. How much did the Fisher's have to spend for attorney's and such? I also wish that Kerrey would spend some of his negative advertising money for a good cause. That would probably go to New York friends though!!!!!
