Livingston: Leadership at the police departmentTell North Platte what you think

I believe that being mayor is not just a job, it is a lifestyle that you commit to when you are sworn into office.

I also firmly believe that operating our city is not a one-man job. It takes a team made up of city council members, our city administrator, our respective department heads, all of our city employees and the citizens of North Platte.

However, it does take strong leadership, and I have a proven record of strong leadership. If elected, I will strive to have our city united by the end of my four-year term.

It has been my experience that if you effectively utilize the resources you have in place, demonstrate strong leadership, communicate clear goals, and provide the tools to accomplish these goals, you will succeed.

I am confident that as a city united we can closely monitor taxes and city spending, encourage economic vitality, support and improve local efforts designed to bring people into the community, protect the quality of our neighborhoods and encourage and support new and existing local innovative businesses.

I accept the challenges and responsibilities that this office and public service bring. I am honored by the trust and support I have received throughout my campaign from the citizens of North Platte.

I am also honored to have received endorsements from both the North Platte Firefighters Local 831 and the North Platte Police Employees Fraternal Order of Police #33; it means a great deal to me to have sustained the trust and support of my colleagues and peers throughout the course of my career. I promise to be worthy of it.

I believe in North Platte, my interests and dedication are solely to this city. My wife Ronda and I, two daughters and two son-in-laws, and five of our seven grandchildren work and live in North Platte. Decisions made on the city government level affect our family just as much as they impact all of our residents.

I would appreciate your vote for Mayor on Nov. 6.
