Daviene Morrissey, 38, of North Platte was arrested Thursday for forging checks at her previous job. Morrissey was previously arrested Sept. 10 on separate theft charges from the same place of employment, Hansen's Plumbing. At the time, prosecutor Jennifer Wellan said the total amount that Morrissey allegedly stole might add up to $40,000. Morrissey allegedly stole money from the business through various methods over a period of about 18 months, a police spokesman told the Bulletin. After further investigation, police found evidence that Morrissey wrote nearly $25,000 in unauthorized checks on a Hansen business account, resulting in the latest charge. She was booked and released Thursday afternoon. It was the third time that Morrissey has been charged with similar crimes. On June 6, 2011, she was charged with fraud - insufficient fund checks.
