Welden: Public decisions should not be rushed Tell North Platte what you think

Josh Welden

I grew up in North Platte and after graduation shipped off for boot camp with the intention never to return.

After a stint in the military, I went to college in Kansas City for an electronics degree. I then moved to Lincoln and got a job as an installation tech, traveling all across the this great land, a new city about every 2-3 weeks. It gave me a great chance to see other communities and how they work.

I finally ended up in San Diego, living the beach life and working on antennas for the Navy as a civilian contractor.

I wanted a house, dogs and a garden, but knew those were not within my means out there. So I convinced my wife to move back to my hometown, a place where anyones dreams can come true, but it takes hard work.

I decided to run for office to bring some new ideas and simple solutions to issues that come before the council. I will be very diligent in studying and getting the facts of an issue before casting a vote, even if it means tabling it and asking the public for their input. Making decisions for the voter is a great responsibility, one that should never by rushed, but in the past has. I want to insist on fairness and an even playing field for all of the city.

In conclusion, I feel I would make a good city councilman because I am way too stubborn to be coerced or swayed against my beliefs.

I promise to do what is in the best interest of all North Platte citizens.
