Mail: Kerrey is outstanding NebraskanTell North Platte what you think

It never fails to amaze me, the people who say that Bob Kerrey is not a Nebraskan because he went to New York and served as a college president.

Many people from Nebraska have left for a no more honorable reason and never came back to Nebraska, but we claim them.

Consider such Nebraskans as Robert Taylor, Clayton Yeutter, Henry Fonda, Willa Cather, marlon Brando, Mari Sandoz, Fred Astaire, Johnny Carson and many others.

None of these were awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor or gave part oftheir physical self for their country -- or served as a very popular governor, or a popular senator who worked across the aisle.

Neither did Bob Kerrey attempt to take something that did not belong to him by adverse possession.

Jack Ostergard, retired Gothenburg rancher, Vietnam War Veteran

Did anyone ask Mr. Kerry where he is going to live if he loses the election? Not Nebraska. His rational for running is that he can either live in Washington, or back in NYC.

It never cease to amaze me that people don't question the honesty and integrity of someone who uproots his family and moves halfway across the country at the request of his political party.

Thank you Mr. Ostergard! Very well said! I hesitate to copy and paste a letter or editorial, but I wish the Bulletin had a "share to fb" link, as so many of these letters such as this are worth sharing.

I don't remember saying he was not a Nebraskan but he hardly deserves to come back here after a decade in New York and say that he can represent us. It is nice that he was around in the 1980s and 1990s but times have changed and his knowledge of Nebraska has withered in a decade.
