North Platte author Kayla Curry will introduce her new book Obsidian, a paranormal urban fantasy, from 5-7 p.m. downtown at A-Z Books. Obsidian is a contemporary tale, with the world on the brink of social and technological devastation without satellite technology, thanks to dark corporate adversaries. Curry will sign and read from her book. Refreshments will be served, A-Z owner Sharon Owen said. Curry, who most in her hometown knew as Kayla Dodson when she was growing up, is a 2006 graduate of North Platte High School. She wrote the manuscript between duties as a mother of two small children and a desk clerk at the Hampton Inn in North Platte.
