Bertrand volleyball team defeated Maxwell Tuesday in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-10. Despite the loss to high-rated Bertrand, Maxwell Coach Lori Mau was pleased with the efforts of her young team. "We made some strides tonight in the right direction," she said. "The girls came out ready to play and really worked hard on defense. They really dug a lot of balls tonight and fought a lot harder than we have." Mau said Bertrand serve the ball real well, is very smart and has quick hitters. "It was great for us to have a match like that this time of the season," she said. "It is nice to see the desire and fight come back in the girls. We hope to get some good practices in this week and be ready for sub-districts next week." For the Maxwell Wildcats, Kayla Stenger had 15 assists, Josie Cox had 5 stuff blocks and 8 kills, Tracy Blake had 6 kills and 7 digs, and Anna Crane had 4 kills, 1 ace serve and 5 digs.
