Driver Joey Guillemin and passenger Justin Covert of North Platte were both ejected and Covert was pinned under the pickup.

Guillermin was thrown clear of the truck but suffered a broken leg, broken hip and facial cuts, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Their speeding pickup strayed off the shoulder of West State Farm Road and traveled in the north ditch until it hit a private driveway, launched into the air for 130 feet, landed nose first and flipped over, according to a LCSO report.

Rescuers lifted the pickup off Covert, who remained unconscious. He and Guillemin were taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center and from there, both were flown by helicopter to Denver.

Both men are 20 years old. Alcohol could have been a contributing factor, investigators said.

The wreck occurred about 11:30 p.m. on 3100 W. State Farm Road.

Citations are pending, LSCO said.

I agree formernp. Everyone always wants to blame someone else when something like this happens. I doubt if anyone forced these two to do anything they didn't want to that night. Most of th fault lies with these two for drinking too much and then getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. Two bad choices with a bad outcome

Has anyone heard how they are doing? It is one thing to Bash these two BOYS, just remember they have a mom and dad and aunts and uncles and siblings that are suffering, yes they made a BAD decision and now they will pay the concequences for their choice, no need to BASH them anymore then their bodies are bashed in right now. My Prayers go out to the families and to those that were at that party and let them get into the truck to drive......bet they are having a quilt trip right now.....God Bless!

This story is a tragedy for everyone involved :( but these are not kids we are speaking of nor should anyone be responsible for their choices, the bar, nor the person hosting the party. They made the decision to go to the party, drink, knowing they weren't old enough and then drive. THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE!! It's a sad story

Do TalkBack posters have something against punctuation and capital letters at the beginnings of sentences? Sheesh! Must be the new English taught in the public schools. (I know, I'll be called out for being the "Grammar Nazi")

Regarding the accident, it's so sad when these kind of things can be avoided so easily. It's good to be reminded that almost every decision we make impacts our lives for good or for bad. Choose wisely!

Goam, I don't think it is up to the City to provide activities for teens and young adults. The generations that have come before have found ways to entertain themselves, but also help with family businesses and farms, help around their homes, have part time jobs, volunteer work, etc. Plus, young people can find activities with friends that DON'T involve alcohol. Blaming parties for minors on the City of NP is just ridiculous.

Just Curious,Fact they both had been drinking, they were coming from a party that was in that area and where both were minors the person who held this party needs to be arrested along with the one who provided the alcohol .it is not the fist time they have drank one has a young child and should think at it for once hope it is a wake up for both hard lesson to learn .They will not say it was alcohol related until toxicology results are done hard to do that at the seen on someone unconscious right?

We need to get some kind of fun activity center for kids in this town to try and stop the drinking and drugs. These kids are BORED. Not that it will stop all of them, but some. If the city can spend $1.+ mil (I think) on a city bus storage building, I think they could come up with something for our children. Next, we need some stiffer punishment for DUI's and MIP's and stop the slaps on the wrist.

Not to be rude but I dont see anywhere in this story that says they were drinking all that I read was it could have been a contributing factor last time I checked that meant they weren't sure unless u guys were with them if they were drinking u really dont know and if not maybe u shouldn't act like it was alcohol related till the truth comes out till then prayers for the families and both boys involved hope all comes out ok

Both minors, and driving drunk. Want to know how kelseys bar is not partially responsible. Joey is in rough shape and no update on Justin. Pray for the families, gonna be a long road to recovery.
