KEARNEY-The North Platte St. Pat's girls' cross country team finished second in Class D on Friday in the Nebraska State Meet. With four runners in the top 15, Crofton won the Class D title for the seventh consecutive year. Cousins Anna and Mandy O'Malley finished side by side again to lead St. Pat's at state. Anna was 17th with a time of 16:24.4 and Mandy was 18th at 16:24.9. Maggie Vinton was 37th (16:58.8), Jodecci Torrez was 56th (17:54.3), Lexi Allison was 95th (19:17.3) and Jamie Smith was 97th (19:29) in the Lady Irish's runner-up performance. The St. Pat's boys' also qualified for state and finished in 14th place. Joe O'Malley was the top finisher for the Irish coming in at 18:09.4 for 32nd place. Brandon Adkins was 77th (19:09.5), Jared Gafke was 99th (20:20) followed by Jared Brosius at 100 (20:26.9). Tyler Elsten (23:38.8) and Josh Hernandez (26:35.5) were the last two St. Pat's runners to cross the finish line, finishing at 117 and 120, respectively.
