Mail: Fischer bad neighbor to parks departmentTell North Platte what you think

Thirty-two years ago I took my family along with two other families to the Snake River Falls. We all stayed at the Kime's camping facilities there.

The first night we held a western style ho-down with people playing guitar, fiddle and I even played a wash-tub bass. Les Kime danced with my daughter who was four years old at the time. Mr. Kime even gave my daughter a silver dollar for the dance, a memento she still has today. It was a great family weekend with excellent fishing and beautiful surroundings, plus Les and Betty Kime were great hosts.

Over 10 years ago I served as a commissioner and eventually chairman of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. I well know their mission statement is to preserve and protect the wildlife and habitat of Nebraska.

Deb Fischer not only was a bad neighbor to the Kimes, but as a state senator, she was a bad neighbor to the Nebraska Game and Parks.

The Kime heirs wanted the Kime Ranch to be sold to the Nebraska Game and Parks so everyone in Nebraska could enjoy the greatest trout fishery in Nebraska, which is also nationally known as a great trout fishery and has been stocked by the Nebraska Game and Parks.

In open testimony, Deb Fischer said the state of Nebraska and the Game and Parks would be a bad neighbor to her and other ranchers.

As a state senator, Deb Fischer then introduced LB229 to divert funds from the Nebraska Environmental Trust – an act that made it impossible for Nebraska Game and Parks to purchase the Kime Ranch.

Consequently, the Ranch was sold to a private hunting club.

Deb Fischer undermined everyone in Nebraska who buys a state fishing license, a state hunting permit or a state park permit. She has disenfranchised all outdoorsmen and women from enjoying the Snake River Falls.

Deb Fischer must think politics is a contact sport that she can use for her own monetary gain.

For all outdoors people, you should know that she is also a bad neighbor to you - no matter where you live in this great state -- "Nebraska."

If Deb is such an evil neighbor, how is it she got reelected by such an overwhelming majority. Did she single handedly pass LB229? Did the courts rule incorrectly in her legal case? The dems seem to have only smear and fear going for them in their desperation this campaign season.

Yeah, and in that decade that Kerrey wasn't in the state he still paid more in state taxes than the Fischer's. You're right, move from the state to become the president of a university and you certainly can't be a Nebraskan any longer. Of course, when he was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroics performed some where other than Nebraska there were a lot of people proud he was a Nebraskan then. I tell you what, I would love to see you tell a young soldier returning from war about how he is no longer a Nebraskan because he left the state.

Well I guess the Democrats have found something they can use against Fischer that can't be used against Kerrey. Fischer was a bad neighbor to Nebraskans during the last decade but Kerrey wasn't. Nope, Kerrey never offended anyone in Nebraska over the last decade, didn't hear a peep from him in Nebraska over the last decade, not one peep, it was as if he wasn't even in the state.

In defense of the apparently heretical concept of "fair and balanced" here's a link to information that gives a different view: http://debfischer2012.com/2012/10/sen-fischer-gov-heineman-fischers-cherry-county-neighbors-respond-to-bob-kerreys-character-smears/
