After weeks of investigation, two North Platte men are charged with thefts in the area and a burglary at Maxwell school.

The charges were leveled against Dylan Digiovani, 20, and Kyer Feeney, 20, both of North Platte.

On Aug. 12, Maxwell school officials reported a burglary during the night. The burglary was unsolved until a few days ago.

On Oct. 10, a woman south of Maxwell told law officers that her purse was stolen from her car while she was working in a field with the harvest, Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer said.

Another person in the field saw a vehicle nearby, and later saw it again at an Interstate lake near Maxwell, according to the sheriff.

Deputies stopped the vehicle as it left the lake. Digiovani was driving. The sheriff said his deputies found some of the victim’s property and other suspected stolen items in Digiovani’s vehicle, including a laptop computer that was missing from Maxwell school.

Deputies also found a place at the lake where Digiovani apparently tried to burn the stolen purse along with personal paperwork belonging to him. Deputies found the papers under the partially burnt purse, the sheriff said.

Digiovani was arrested that day.

When investigators searched Digiovani’s house, they found four more laptops from the school, the sheriff said.

Some of the evidence found at the school indicated Kyer Feeney was the burglar, the sheriff said. Feeney and Diogivani are known associates.

Feeney was arrested Tuesday. Digiovani and Feeney are also charged with theft from Miller Repair in Maxwell. They allegedly took items from that business over several months.

Both men are also suspected of thefts in Frontier and Logan Counties and investigators are working to sort it all out, Kramer said.
