A local man is in jail in Arizona as he awaits sentencing for stealing money from a North Platte car dealer. Donald Frederick Rohwedder, 52, of North Platte was arrested Oct. 8 in Mesa, Ariz. and jailed at the Maricopa County Jail on charges of theft, indecent exposure, first-degree criminal trespass and criminal damage. Rohwedder is also facing charges in Lincoln County. Rohwedder was charged in two separate incidents, according to the Maricopa County sheriff’s office. Rohwedder is due in court in Arizona on Oct. 23 and again on Oct. 25. His bond is more than $500,000. Rohwedder was arrested in Lincoln County on Nov 4, 2010 for theft by deception at Janseen Motors, an auto dealership. As general manager at Janssen Motors in 2010, Rohwedder allegedly took down payments on cars and didn’t turn the money over to the dealership. Prosecutors said he took $14,000 from August-October 2010. Rohwedder pleaded no contest and was convicted of theft by taking Sept. 10. Lincoln County District Judge Donald Rowlands ordered him to return on Oct. 29 for sentencing. However, according to Maricopa County Jail records, he will have a hard time keeping his appointment in Lincoln County.
