The fire developed in the boys' bedroom around 3:15 p.m., homeowner Jeremy Storm told the Bulletin. His wife Deanna found the smoke and called Jeremy, who rushed home from Bailey Yard. When he arrived, he opened the bedroom door and was met with a cloud of heavy smoke. He told his wife to call the fire department. Within a couple minutes, he heard sirens.

The interior of the home was virtually destroyed, the Storm's cousin Kim Ziel said. Donations of money and furnishings are needed.

"They need everything -- beds, chairs, dressers, kitchen items," Ziel said. "The contents were destroyed."

A benefit fund is established at at Centris Federal Credit Union, 301 East Philip Ave., North Platte. Checks should be made out to the "Storm Family," Ziel said.

The family is also looking for a rental house that will allow them to keep their four dogs.

To contribute household items, call Ziel at 308-660-6335.

The couple's four children were not at home, just Deanna and their pet dogs, Jeremy said.

Flames were coming out the bedroom windown by the time the fire department arrived. They knocked down the flames and strung out a hose for nearly one block from a hydrant at the corner of Third and Sherman.

Earlier, this report erroneously listed Bryan instead of Sherman St. as the location of the fire hydrant.
