Tanner Castillo, Tristen Winder and Peter Troshynski are ready to campaign for Democrat candidates Bob Kerrey and Mark Sullivan. The three men from North Platte plan to make phone calls and walk neighborhoods.

“We have had a great time in this year’s election campaign, and feel we have great candidates in Kerrey and Sullivan,” Lincoln County Democrats chairman Terry Sigler said after a recent county Democrats gathering at their downtown headquarters.

Together

Meanwhile, the Lincoln County Republicans have created a website – www.localgop.org – and a facebook page. Chairwoman Kimberley Kaschke said the website links to more information about local, state and national candidates.

The site is named “Connecting our Community.”

“I look at it as an opportunity to bring people together,” Kaschke said. “So often everyone is focused on the national races, but what matters is the local election to make this a better place.”

Campaign yard signs are appearing all over North Platte. Election day is Nov. 6.

Wisdom

The young campaigners for the Democrats said they like politics and believe Bob Kerrey is the best candidate for Senate.

“I think Kerrey is going to stand for what he believes in,” Troshynski said. “With more age comes more wisdom.”

“He showed a lot of respect when I met him,” Winder said. “He looked me in the eye and asked me about my life and my opinion.”
