Scholarship applications are due Tuesday, Oct. 16 for two $1,000 agriculture scholarships. Duane McClain, Chair of the North Platte Area Chamber of Commerce & Development Corp.’s Agri-Business Committee said the $1,000 scholarships will be awarded at the Committee’s Annual Farmer/Rancher Appreciation Banquet on Nov. 12 at the Quality Inn in North Platte. The agri-business committee feels that agriculture is a vital part of our quality of life and hopes scholarships will encourage young people to consider making their living not only in agriculture, but here in Nebraska as well. Applications are available and can be dropped off when completed at the Chamber & Development office, 502 South Dewey, 308-532-4966. The eligibility requirements: • Must be a senior going on to a “higher education” program relating to agriculture (veterinarian medicine does apply). • Must either live in or go to school in Lincoln, Logan or McPherson County.
