The North Platte High School girls' golf team qualified for state on Oct. 1 by finishing in third place at districts, held at the Lake Maloney Golf Course. With a combined score of 374, the Lady Bulldogs finished behind district champion Norfolk (351) and runner-up Millard North, who was only one stroke ahead of NPHS at 373. Seniors Tessa Burford and Jenae States were the top two finishers for North Platte. Burford came up with a score of 86 to finish in fifth place and States was only one stroke behind her teammate and finished sixth. Jordyn Pearson shot a 92, Erin Green had 109 and Lauren Wagner had 125 to round out the performances. Ellie Wiltfong of Lincoln Southwest won a four-person playoff for the individual championship after shooting 85, one stroke less than Burford. The Lady Dawgs will finish their season at the state meet next week in Norfolk.
