GRANT-The North Platte St. Pat's girls' cross country team won its district meet on Thursday.
The Lady Irish were led by Anna and Mandy O'Malley, who finished first and second, respectively.
Anna O'Malley, a sophomore who finished 12th at last year's state meet, won the D-5 title with a time of 16:13.3.
Mandy, a senior who has now qualified for state all four years and finished 13th at state last year, was second at 16:14.7.
The St. Pat's girls had two other runners finish in the top 15. Senior Maggie Vinton, who along with Mandy O'Malley will be making her fourth state appearance, was eighth at 17:18.2. Jodecci Torrez, another senior, was 15th at 17:55.1.
Lexi Allison and Jamie Smith also ran for the Irish. Allison, a sophomore, came in at 18:29.3, and Smith, a junior, finished with a time of 19:14.1.
The Sutherland girls have one runner going to state. Josie Burke, who was 14th at 17:54.5.
Irish boys finish third, qualify for state
The North Platte St. Pat's boys' team will also be running at state next week with a third-place finish on Thursday.
The Irish, were led by returning state qualifier, Joe O'Malley with a sixth place finish. The senior clocked in at 18:24.8.
Junior Brandon Adkins also finished in the top 15, as well. At just a shade over 19 minutes, Adkins finished in 14th place.
Jared Brosius (20:23.7), Jared Gafke (20:39.8), Tyler Elsten (23:16.1) and Josh Hernandez (25:42.4) also ran for St. Pat's.
Paxton won the district boys' title. The Tigers were led by individual champion Garrett Perlinger at 16:56.2.
Tyler Cassell and Jaron Bricker also finished in the top 15 at seventh and ninth place, respectively.
