• Weekend movies at the Platte River Mall include “Argo”, “Frankenweenie 3D”, “Here Comes the Boom”, “Hotel Transylvania 3D”, “Pitch Perfect”, and “Taken 2”. Schedule subject to change, see www.carmike.com.

• Every Saturday – two outdoor farmer's markets. One in downtown Parkade Plaza, 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Another at Garden Glove Garden Center (1800 E. 12th) 9-1. Produce, crafts, flowers, meats, baked goods.

• Weekends at Golden Spike Visitor’s Center (1249 N. Homestead Rd) – 10-acre cornfield maze. 5-10 p.m. Fridays, 1-10 p.m. Saturdays, 1-7 p.m. Sundays. $7 adults. $6 ages 4-11. Toddlers free.


Friday, Oct. 12

• Platte River Mall -- Fall craft & gift show, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and on Sunday from noon-6 p.m.

• The Depot (520 N. Jeffers) – North Platte Business & Professional Women, wine & brews festival with mirco-brews and hors d’oevres. Silent auction at 5 p.m. 5-8 p.m. Tickets: $25.

• A to Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – Open Mic Nite. Established performers and newcomers. 7-10:30 p.m. Free-will donation. Refreshments provided or bring your own.

• Da Buzz (1208 W. A) – Live music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. 8-10 p.m. Cover charge.

• Cedar Bowl (1100 S. Jeffers) – Cosmic bowling under black lights. 8-11 p.m. $4 per game.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Live music by D.L. Marble. 9 p.m. Cover charge.


Saturday, Oct. 13

• Elks Lodge 985 (502 Easy St.) – BBQ and beans event to support Elks youth activities. BBQ competition starts at 9 a.m.

• MOPS Marketplace (2607 Rodeo Rd.) – Homemade gifts and home based businesses including food, jewelry, and hair accessories. 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Platte River Mall -- Fall craft & gift show, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and on Sunday from noon-6 p.m.

• North Platte Community College South Campus – Kids Discover 2012 with Herbie from noon-1 p.m. Fun games and activities for all ages. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

• Platte Bar – MaKenna Walters Benefit Poker Run with stops in Arnold, Gothenburg and Brady. Starts 10 a.m. $10 a hand, $15 a couple.

• Platte River Mall -- Fall craft & gift show, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

• D&N Event Center – Disorderly Conduct Mixed Martial Arts fights. 7-9 p.m. General admission: $20, Cageside: $45. Tickets available at cagetix.com.

• Neville Center – Dirty Rotten Scoundrels performed by the Community Playhouse. Lighthearted look at con men on the Riveria. Based on the noted film. 8 p.m. Adults: $15; Children/Students: $8.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Fundraiser for MaKenna Walters family. Live music by Sunset Alley. 9 p.m.

• St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (3301 Echo Dr.) – Pumpkin festival with games, food, auction, raffle, and pony, hayrack, and mini-train rides. 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Neville Center – Dirty Rotten Scoundrels performance based on the film. Matinee: 2 p.m., evening curtain: 8 p.m. Adults: $15; Children/Students: $8.


Wednesday, Oct. 17

• North Platte Children’s Museum (314 N. Jeffers) – Halloween fun with crafts. Come in a costume. 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Members free, regular admission $4.

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. Fourth) – bingo, total of 24 games, starts at 6:45 p.m.

• North Platte Senior Center (900 E. Tenth) – the Golden Classics, a four-piece combo, plays a dance. 7-10 p.m. $3.

Thursday, Oct. 18

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Live music by Jason Boland and The Stragglers. 9 p.m. Tickets $12.


Thursday, Oct. 18

North Platte Community College, newly remodeled south campus theater - choir and jazz band concert. 7:30 p.m. Jazz band director Ron Daly will be dressed in Halloween attire and invites the audience to do the same.


Friday, Oct. 19

• Neville Center – Dirty Rotten Scoundrels performed at community playhouse. Lighthearted look at con men on the Riveria. Based on the noted film. 8 p.m. Adults: $15; children/students: $8.

• North Platte High School – Nebraska Pride Chorus presents A Fractured Fairy Tale with special guests The Crew from Denver. 2 p.m. Adults $12, 12 and under $5.

• Ace Hardware (235 E. Sixth) – Dutch oven contest. Guidelines available in store.

• Sutherland Track (N. County Rd.) – Trick or Feet 2012 run/walk. Costume contest. 8-11 a.m. Adults $20, Kids: $15. Proceeds benefit Boy Scouts.

• Downtown Trick or Treat on the Bricks – 14th annual Halloween Walk for 3rd graders or under. Trick or treat and enjoy games and prizes. 1-3 p.m.

• Neville Center for Performing Arts (Old Fox Theater downtown) – 7 p.m. Christian music concert by Francesca Battistelli, Sidewalk Prophets, Andy Cherry and City Harbor. Tickets $22 in advance, $25 day of show. Group tickets $18. VIP tickets $32, includes meeting and greet.

• A to Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – West central Nebraska’s Open Mic Nite. Established performers and newcomers. Halloween music and ghost stories will be featured. 7-10:30 p.m. Free-will donation. Refreshments provided or bring your own.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Heaven & Hell Halloween Party continues with live music by JB & The Moonshine Band. 9 p.m. Cover charge.

• First United Methodist Church (1600 W. E) – Trunk or Treat. Family friendly fun night for kids of all ages with games and refreshments. 4:30-6:30 p.m. Free admission.

• Neville Center – Utah Repertory Dance Theater, professional modern dance company to perform a dance tour through a hundred years of dance. 7:30-10 p.m. Memberships: adults $15, students $15, families $100.


Wednesday, Oct. 31

• Lincoln County Historical Museum – Spirit hunting in a ghost town. Kids activities with coloring and marshmallow roasting. Trick or treat from 4-6 p.m. Main event 7 p.m.-midnight. Adults: $6, Kids 8 and under: free. Refreshments and pumpkins for sale.

• Harvest Christian Fellowship church (NW campus, 2607 Rodeo Rd.) - Harvest party, 5-8 p.m. Games for the family, candy giveaway, special area for preschoolers.


Sunday, Nov. 4

• North Platte High School – Sandhills Symphony Orchestra performance. 3 p.m. Free admission.
