SPVA volleyball tournament kicks offTell North Platte what you think

The South Platte Valley Association volleyball tournament kicks off on Thursday in Imperial.

North Platte St. Patís (20-0) and Sutherland (14-5), the two conference finalists from last year, are the two top seeds and have byes in the first round.

Hershey (12-7) is the No. 3-seed and will play sixth-seed Maxwell (7-15) in the second of two first round matches at 6 p.m.

The other first round match will pit fourth-seed Imperial (13-10) against No. 5-seed Perkins County (4-16), which will begin at 4 p.m.

The winner of Imperial and Perkins County will play top-seed St. Patís on Saturday while the winner of Hershey and Maxwell will play Sutherland.

The finals are scheduled to be played on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Last year, St. Patís beat Sutherland in four sets to win the SPVA title. Both teams later qualified for the state tournament.
