Clemente Carrizales, 29, of Hershey pled no contest Tuesday to amended charges of DUI first offense and two counts of third-degree assault, both misdemeanors. The charges date to a May 19 disturbance at Hershey Beach of the Sutherland Reservoir. Sheriff’s investigators said Juan Martinez, 19, of North Platte and Carrizales assaulted two teenagers at a campsite. Martinez is charged with rape and making terroristic threats in addition to assault and illegal possession of a pharmacy drug, Alprozam. Carrizales and Martinez fled, but witnesses gave deputies a description and the direction they headed. Deputies found them driving on South River Road. Carrizales stands convicted of helping assault the teenagers on the beach. Defense attorney Kent Florom asked for a bond reduction and Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling objected, saying it was low enough already. District Judge Richard Birch agreed and left bond at $5,000. Carrizales will be sentenced Nov. 12. Martinez was also in district court Tuesday but his case was continued at the request of Defense Attorney Pat Hays. Hays asked for more time to take depositions from witnesses.
