A couple of dirty rotten scoundrels will descend on the Neville Center this weekend.

Based on the popular 1988 film, the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels play centers on two con men on the French Riviera.

Lawrence Jameson makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money. Freddy Benson more humbly swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother's failing health.

After meeting on a train, they attempt to work together only to find that the small French town isn't big enough for the two of them.

They agree on a settlement: the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female target, heiress Christine Colgate, wins and the other must leave town. A hilarious battle of cons ensues that will keep audiences laughing, humming and guessing to the end, Playhouse Publicist Phyllis Swigart said.

This will be the first production of the 2012-13 season, which is packed with shows to entertain central Nebraska.

Production dates for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels are Oct. 13-14 and 19-21, with Friday and Saturday performances starting at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Tickets went on sale Monday and are $15 for adults and $8 for students and children.

Tickets can be purchased at the NPCP box office Monday-Friday from noon-5 p.m. or anytime online at northplattecommunityplayhouse.org, or by calling (308) 532-8559. Tickets are sold at the door starting an hour before each performance.

Season memberships are also available for $50 for adults, $25 for students and $135 for a family (2 adults, 2 students.)

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is produced through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International, www.mtishows.com, and directed by Anne Schmit. Donna Pucket is the music director.

The cast: Tom Clements is Andre Thibault. Daniel Harder is Lawrence Johnson. Amariah Hodgen is Christine Colgate. Amanda Pleiss is Jolene Oakes. Kevin Wood is Freddy Benson. Angie Burrows is Muriel Eubanks. Jen Wellan is Renee. Allison Klimek is Sophia.

Additional cast members: Ben Bartholomew, Joshua Gesinski, Florence Gonzales-Todd, Ben Hill, Gabriel Morgan, Teresa Smith, Morris Turner and Seth Vapenik.
