Mickey Spencer, 56, of Sutherland was arrested Sunday and charged with failure to register as a sex offender.

Spencer was convicted in 1996 of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a minor in Deuel County. He must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and update his address anytime he moves.

Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies received a tip that Spencer was living in or around Sutherland and found him after an extensive investigation, according to a sheriff's statement.

Spencer told deputies that he moved to Sutherland in July and had not registered with the sheriff’s office as required, the statement said.

He is in the Lincoln County Jail.
