"The students did well and made me proud," Instructor Roger Freeze said.

The North Platte Police Department’s ‘No Limits’ youth martial arts program began Sept. 12, 2011.

The program was founded to help troubled, at-risk youth by teaching good life skills and values through martial arts. It originally operated from 1998-2008. During those 10 years, touching the lives of 182 youth ages 6-17, seven of whom earned black belts, organizers said.

"Once they get into the program, they realize that fighting is not the answer," Investigator Roger Freeze said. "The emphasis is on self-defense."
