• Weekend movies at the Platte River Mall include “Frankenweenie 3D”, “Hotel Transylvania 3D”, “House at the End of the Street”, “Pitch Perfect”, “Taken 2”, “Trouble with the Curve”, and “Won’t Back Down.” Schedule subject to change, see www.carmike.com.

• Every Saturday – two outdoor farmer's markets. One in downtown Parkade Plaza, 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Another at Garden Glove Garden Center (1800 E. 12th) 9-1. Produce, crafts, flowers, meats, baked goods.

• Weekends at Golden Spike Visitor’s Center (1249 N. Homestead Rd) – 10-acre cornfield maze. 5-10 p.m. Fridays, 1-10 p.m. Saturdays, 1-7 p.m. Sundays. $7 adults. $6 ages 4-11. Toddlers free.


Thursday, Oct. 4

• Public Library (120 W. Fourth) – Carnegie Libraries program by Laureen Riedesel, showcases libraries across Nebraska originally built with donations of tycoon Andrew Carnegie. Noon-1 p.m. No charge.

• A to Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – Talk with Bob Thomas, the author of Crump, a book about North Platte High School football coach Crump Redding, who led the Bulldogs to the 1962 state championship. 6:30-8 p.m. Presentation at 7 p.m. No charge.


Friday, Oct. 5

• Harvest Christian Fellowship main campus (1501 S. Dewey). Family movie night, “Madagascar 3.” 7 p.m. No admission charge.

• Cedar Bowl (1100 S. Jeffers) – Cosmic bowling under black lights. 8-11 p.m. $4 per game.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Live music by Sheila Greenland. 9 p.m. Cover charge.


Saturday, Oct. 6

• Whistle Stop open air market (1800 E. 12th) – Live music by Shermie at the piano. Crafts, produce, baked goods, flowers and meat too. 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

• Quality Inn & Suites (2102 S. Jeffers) – 10th annual GREEN fundraiser to support North Platte Catholic Schools. Dinner, entertainment, auctions, and a lottery drawing. Begins 5 p.m. Tickets: $50.

• Neville Center - The Rodney Mack Philadelphia Big Brass quintet performs onstage at 7:30 p.m. in a North Platte concert. Admission by season tickets – five concerts for $50. $100 per family. $15 per student. Sold at the door.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Live music by Sheila Greenland. 9 p.m. Cover charge.

• The Depot (520 N. Jeffers) – North Platte Business & Professional Women, wine & brews festival with mirco-brews and hors d’oevres. Silent auction at 5 p.m. 5-8 p.m. Tickets: $25.

• A to Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – Open Mic Nite. Established performers and newcomers. 7-10:30 p.m. Free-will donation. Refreshments provided or bring your own.

• Cedar Bowl (1100 S. Jeffers) – Cosmic bowling under black lights. 8-11 p.m. $4 per game.

• Neville Center for Performing Arts (Old Fox Theater downtown) – 7 p.m. Christian music concert by Francesca Battistelli, Sidewalk Prophets, Andy Cherry and City Harbor. Tickets $22 in advance, $25 day of show. Group tickets $18. VIP tickets $32, includes meeting and greet.
