Gunshots sounded on the posh west side of North Platte early Sunday, after a man called 911 and said an armed intruder was in his house. Police said the caller sounded drunk and gave the dispatcher a non-existent address, but the cops tracked the call to the area of Clearwater Court, a short street in the area of W. Philip and Lakewood. When police arrived around 1:15 a.m., they heard shots and found a man with a handgun in a nearby yard. During questioning, police realized the man was the same man who called 911, Police Lt. Steve Reeves said. Police said the caller allegedly fired the gun several times inside his home. They found no evidence of an intruder. The man, who was not named, was placed in Emergency Protective Custody at Great Plains Regional Medical Center for the safety of himself and the public.
