Two men were arrested during the weekend and 188 pounds of pot was seized in traffic stops near Big Springs and Kearney. Just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday, a trooper stopped an eastbound 2006 Nissan Titan pickup for speeding three miles west of Kearney on Interstate 80. The trooper received consent to search the pickup, Nebraska State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins said, and found 83 pounds of marijuana in three suitcases in the pickup cab and bed. The driver and lone occupant, Neftali Gutierrez Barajas, 26, a Mexican national, was lodged in the Buffalo County jail, charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. Two days earlier on Friday, a trooper stopped an eastbound 2012 Lincoln MKZ for speeding on I-76 four miles west of Big Springs and found 105 pounds of marijuana in two duffle bags in the trunk. The driver, Sylvester Cage, 50, of Plymouth, Minn., was lodged in the Deuel County Jail on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
