Bond was set at $75,000 Friday for Andrew L. Lauber, 22, of North Platte, accused of distribution of marijuana.

Lauber was arrested and jailed Thursday and appeared in Lincoln County Court Friday.

Originally, he was charged with possession with intent to deliver, but Deputy County Attorney Jennifer Wellan told the court that he had actually delivered marijuana, so the charge was increased.

Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull set Lauber’s bond at $75,000, noting that a minor was involved and Lauber has a prior record involving drugs and minors.

Turnbull told Lauber that he normally sets bond at $50,000 for the crime.

Lauber told Turnbull that he would hire his own attorney.

In February, Lauber was convicted of felony child abuse and sentenced to a year in jail after hosting meth parties at his house involving minors. At that time, Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling requested a penitentiary sentence. She said a 16-year-old girl was injected with meth at Lauber’s home, plus he had four prior convictions for minor in possession of alcohol and he failed probation three times.

“It’s one thing to be an addict,” Harling said at the time. “To host parties for minors and introduce them to drugs is another.”

Lauber’s co-defendant in the Febuary district court case, Austen Barraclough, was sentenced to a 2-6 years imprisonment. He was considered the primary culprit when the 16-year-old girl was injected.

When Lauber received a lesser sentence than Barraclough, Lincoln County District Judge Donald Rowlands told him, “This is your last chance to turn your life around. It’s not going to be like this if I see you again.”

Lauber had served 190 days in jail before he was sentenced to one year, for which he received credit, so he was released in February on good-time provisions, which take a day off an inmate's sentence for every day he or she serves without causing problems at the jail.
