'Sir William'

Walter Stein, a professional commercial paleontologist in South Dakota with more than 15 years of field experience, will teach Saturday at the North Platte Childrenís Museum and at A to Z Books.

Stein has excavated, prepared and discovered more than 25 dinosaur skeletons, in addition to dozens of other fossil vertebrates and invertebrates, according to his website.

One of his discoveries is "Sir William," a juvenile Tyrannosaur.

Stein will present a morning class from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Childrenís Museum for grades K-5. A session will follow for grades K-6 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

The museum is downtown on Jeffers St.

The cost to attend is $20 for museum members and $25 for non-members. Registration forms are available online at npchildrensmuseum.com.

At 7 p.m., Stein will bring his PowerPoint presentation to A to Z Books at 7 p.m. and copies of his book The Top 256 Rules of Paleontology to sign for enthusiasts of fossils, plus many artifacts, organizer Sharon Owen said. There is no charge at the bookstore.

Stein designs educational programs, activities and exhibits and also wrote So You Want To Dig Dinosaurs - A Field Manual on the Practice, Principles, and Politics of Vertebrate Paleontology.
