A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old North Platte woman are charged in a midnight robbery at a Casey’s General Store at Buffalo Bill Ave. and Rodeo Road.
Using a BB gun rifle, the boy robbed one of the registers, Sgt. Gary Hovey of the North Platte Police said.
Hovey said police were called to the store shortly after midnight and told that a young man wearing a black ski mask robbed the store and left on foot.
The investigation led police to a home on West Ninth, where they found the teenage boy with the 19-year-old woman, Hovey said.
Hovey said police also found a BB gun, money and clothing that matched the description of the crime.
The 16-year-old is from California. He is regarded as a high-flight-risk, Deputy Lincoln County Attorney Jennifer Wellan said in court Friday. Hovey said the boy is reported to have run away from his home in California.
He is charged with robbery and held on $100,000 bond.
Amanda L. Giles, 19, of North Platte is charged with accessory to a felony because she allegedly tried to hide money and conceal the alleged robber from law enforcement, Wellan said.
Giles is held on a $10,000 bond and was ordered by Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull to have absolutely no contact with with alleged robber, either at the jail or later if she pays the required 10 percent of the bond and is released.
A charge of using a firearm to commit a felony might be pressed against the boy, Wellan said in court.
