The body was found Sept. 20. Dental records confirmed Thursday that the body belonged to Sack, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.

The autopsy also determinted the cause of death was accidental drowning, according to a sheriff's statement.

Authorities conducted an all-out search for Sack after his pickup and fishing gear were found Sept. 4 on the bank of a canal, six miles west of the reservoir. Divers swam the length of the canal, while others searched with dogs, airplanes, horses, boats and underwater cameras as well as on foot.

The search was fruitless until Sept. 13, when a searcher found a leg and a foot in the reservoir. Nothing more was found, despite an intensified effort, until Sept. 20, when the rest of the body turned up on the southeast side of the inlet, near the waterfall area.

The autopsy results officially close the investigation.

Sheriff Jerome Kramer thanked all the area dive and rescue teams that helped, especially the Sutherland and Paxton volunteers. Kramer also thanked Kitty Riggins, who supervised the dog search, and dozens of volunteers for their dedicated assistance.
