The Maxwell volleyball team defeated Hayes Center (2-8) Tuesday in straight sets, but lost to Paxton.

The teams squared off in the Paxton Triangular.

Maxwell fought off Hayes Center 25-22 in the first set and handily won the second, 25-13.

But in the second game, Paxton (11-3) got revenge against the Wildcats with a two-set win, 25-17 and 25-12.

Maxwell (5-9) previously defeated Paxton on Sept. 15 in three sets.

For Maxwell, Kayla Stenger had 23 assists and an ace serve in the two games. Teammate Aura Adkisson had six digs, six kills and one ace serve, and Tracy Blake came up with 11 digs, three ace serves and three kills.
