Shoplifting led to methamphetamine charges Wednesday for a North Platte woman, Rebecca McBride. McBride was allegedly caught shoplifting shortly before noon at the Alco store. Store personnel told a responding police officer that McBride, 50, hid a pair of men’s shoes and tried to leave without paying. The officer charged McBride with third offense theft by shoplifting, and later found that she had a glass pipe, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine, police spokesman Rodney Brown said. McBride was taken to the Lincoln County Jail, charged with possession of a controlled substance as well as theft by shoplifting, third offense.
