Organizers of Court Appointed Special Advocates for children will have a fundraiser from Oct. 1-15 with the theme "Hands are not for hitting." Organizers will pass out "hands" for businesses to give out for a $1 donation, CASA board member Julie Nielsen said. The theme comes from the American Medical Association Alliance – an organization of doctor's spouses – that was formed in 1995. Pro Printing of North Platte donated 1,000 "hands" for this event, Nielsen said. CASA volunteers can deliver them to businesses or anyone interested may obtain them from Nielsen at Equitable Bank. The Lincoln County Medical Alliance and Medical Staff are collaborating with Lincoln County CASA this year. LCMA will host a bake sale at the hospital from 8 a.m.-noon Oct. 10 with the proceeds going to CASA. Everyone is welcome to attend the bake sale and purchase some great food. The LCMA has also donated "You Don't Have To Be Bullied" and "Hands Are Not For Hitting" booklets to each grade school as well as "Hands are not for hitting" placemats for prschools at McDaid, Lincoln, Jefferson and Buffalo pre-schools as well as the North Platte Day Care Center. Businesses and organizations are invited to join the effort Oct. 10 with their own bake sale or fundraising idea. The Lincoln County medical staff has agreed to match up to $500. Donations are tax deductible. CASA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Nielsen said.
