Edy Patterson of North Platte is the second woman president in the history of the Nebraska Diplomats, a goodwill and economic development outreach of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce. Patterson is president of EMP Interior Designs and former owner of Pro Printing in North Platte. She recieved the gavel from outgoing Diplomats President Jeff Scherer. The Nebraska Diplomats, Inc. had more than 325 business executives and community members, the group said in the announcement. The Nebraska Diplomats Passport Weekend, the annual business recruitment event, began Friday with 200 people attending the CEO Roundtable and evening banquet at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln. CEO Roundtable panelists included Tony Raimondo, Behlen Mfg., talking about the Dream It/Do It Program; former Lincoln County Economic Development Director Richard Baier, now with the Nebraska State Chamber of Commerce, who talked about ways to forge Nebraska’s future, and Joseph E. Knecht, with i2rd, Lincoln; Todd Dickie, Power Sports Nation, Norfolk; and Gordon Whitten, private investor form Omaha, talking about Nebraska’s Talent and Innovation Initiative. The Diplomats hosted business prospects from California, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, as well as China and Korea, the group said.
