Mail: We got notice to vacate tooTell North Platte what you think

I just read your article about the short notice the Convention and Visitor's Bureau has been given. (Front page, Sept. 12)

I am the owner of Attitudes Salon and we are not as fortunate to have any time left on our lease.

Instead of preparing to sign another lease, we were informed we had 30 days to find a new location, get loans and completely renovate a new location, which is no small task or price.

I have been an excellent tenant for over 14 years and this is how "big" business works.

I employ 6 stylists with 2 more expected to start by the end of 2012. If I can't relocate, raise the funds and renovate in 30 days I am OUT of business!

I have owned Attitudes for 18 years and closing my doors is not an option for me. I do believe in progress but at what expense? Mine I guess.

So much for "small" business being the backbone of America. I was given my legal 30 day notice, but what about morals? This will definately put a burden on myself, since I didn't have any advance notice to prepare for this kind of expense. However we will be relocating to the Westfield Shopping Center with some VERY exciting improvements.

Lesson to learn, understand contracts before you sign them. Think about the worst case scenario and what could happen. While it stinks more notice wasn't given, they did follow the contract. This isn't a small business vs. large business issue. This is about understanding contracts. (Now, if this happened to me, I would be disappointed, but don't give up.) Hopefully your next lease agreement has a longer time frame for a notice or, if not, have a backup plan ready. Now go and open up your business at its new location and DOMINATE! Good luck, Lisa!

Best of luck on your new location Lisa! Your folks have done a great job for many years, and I'm sure your customers will remember you in Westfield.
