United Way board ponders executive director jobTell North Platte what you think

The board of directors of the United Way in the Lincoln County area may write a new job description for executive director, following the departure of former executive director, Ginny Martin and her administrative aide, Sandee Kroon.

Martin and Kroon both resigned Friday.

The board met Monday and discussed the current job descriptions but did not come to any conclusions, board president Marcus Garstecki said.

Garstecki, who is the vice president of North Platte Community College, said the board hopes to move quickly on filling the jobs, but thinks that now is as good a time as any to update the job descriptions.

He said they are requesting information from other United Way organizations.

Martin was executive director of Mid-Plains United Way for 12 years. She enjoyed working with the public and sends thanks the many people who have sent good wishes.

“United Way has been my passion and continues to be,” she told the Bulletin Tuesday. “The people who are in need in our community are the ones who need the help. There are so many of them.”

Garstecki declined to comment on the resignations except to thank both Martin and Kroon for all they’ve done.

“United Way touches a lot of lives,” he said. “They were a big part of that for a number of years.”
