Third Kerry-Fischer debate setTell North Platte what you think

U.S. Senate candidates Bob Kerrey and Deb Fischer will debate for a third time on Oct. 1, hosted by public broadcasting -- the Nebraska Educational Television stations.

The debate will be held in Lincoln from 7-8 p.m. and be broadcast live on both television and radio, as well as the Internet.

It will be the third face-off between the two candidates in a race with national implications.

Kerrey, the Democrat, and Fischer, the Republican, met in August at the Nebraska State Fair, and are also set to debate Sept. 28 in Omaha, hosted by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and KETV Television.

The NET News debate will be moderated by News Director Dennis Kellogg and feature a panel of three Nebraska journalists.

The candidates will also ask one question of each other. And, questions will also come from the NET News "Voter Voices" election project, which in partnership with libraries across the state, encourages Nebraskans to send video of their comments on election issues and ask questions of the candidates.

Those comments will also be featured in a one-hour "Voter Voices" television special at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 as well as in the debate, NET said in the announcement.

The Oct. 1 debate will be available live on NET1 / NET-HD television, NET Radio and live online at http://netNebraska.org.
