Former North Platte Catholic Schools superintendent Bill McGahan will be honored for his accomplishments as a distinguished alumnus of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. McGahan graduated from UNK in 1964. Eleven alumni will be honored for their accomplishments as students and in their lives after graduating, UNK said in announcing the honor. McGahan served as the superintendent of the North Platte Catholic school district for nearly 40 years. He started at the school in 1966, teaching English and music at St. Pat’s High. He took a leading hand in providing a quality educational and spiritual foundation for thousands of students who passed through St. Patrick’s school hallways. He will receive the award at the UNK homecoming banquet Sept. 21 at the Nebraska student union.
