People who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault will have services more easily accessible to them from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the “One Door - One Stop” Center on Friday, Sept. 14. The center will be at 2700 W. Philip in North Platte. Free childcare is available there. All services are free and confidential. No appointment is needed. A variety of community agencies collaborate at one location at the same time to help a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault, organizer Tanya Folk said. A person in need can meet an advocate who will help assess the situation and needs, and then meet with several agency representatives. Victims of domestic violence and sexual assault will be able to obtain legal advice, advocacy, crisis counseling, referrals and help with protection order applications. They can apply for economic assistance, meet with a law enforcement officer, a prosecutor and/or a probation officer, do safety planning or more. Some of the agencies on hand are: Rape/Domestic Abuse Program, Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Nebraska Legal Aid, Lincoln County Attorney’s Office, Lincoln County Victim Witness Unit, Region II Human Services, District 11 Probation, Proteus, Law Enforcement, Community Domestic Violence Intervention Program and more as needed. The One Door - One Stop Center is open every second Friday of the month at the same time and place.
