Auditions open for Greek play, rockers neededTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte Community College Department of Theater will hold open auditions for their fall production of the Greek tragedy “Trojan Woman” from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 19-20 at the McDonald Belton Theatre on the south campus.

The production will be a modern retelling of the Greek play “Trojan Women” by Euripides, which adds modern music to this classic story.

Music that will be performed by actors includes works from Johnny Cash, Nickelback, All-American Rejects, Metallica, Alanis Morrisette and Tori Amos.

This play has parts for actors as well as singers and musicians. The play requires 7-10 female actors and 5-7 male actors. Also, a rock band composed of piano/keyboard, electric guitars, bass guitar, and percussions is needed.

These auditions are open to the public. Any member of the community is welcome to audition regardless of whether or not they are current college students.

This play deals with adult topics and uses harsh language. Rehearsals begin from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 25 and will continue every Monday through Friday, however rehearsal times are flexible. Performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7-10.

No experience is necessary to audition. Prepared monologues are preferred but not required. Those who would like a singing role in the production should be prepared to sing a pop song without musical accompaniment.

For more information or if the scheduled audition times do not work, please contact NPCC Theater Instructor Ritch Galvan at (308) 535-3767 or by email at galvnr@mpcc.edu.
