Water dr op s into the void left by the World Trade Centers at the 9-11 memorial in New York City.

That day in September, when the world held its breath

When the atmosphere was filled with conspiracy and death

That day in September, when the towers fell

And time stood still as we watched the hell

That day in September, there were no jet trails

The skies were clear and life slowed as a snail

That day in September, has changed us all

For none of us know when comes the final call

That day in September, ‘lest we forget

A call to defend freedom and to even the debt

That day in September, God’s still in control

Ever vigilant, consoling, His frail humans below

J.R. Trumbull, Ringgold (written 11 September 2009)
