• Weekend movies at the Platte River Mall include “2016: Obama’s America”, “The Expendables 2”, “Lawless”, “The Odd Life of Timothy Green”, “The Possession”, and “The Words.” Schedule subject to change, see www.carmike.com.

• Every weekend - Cody Go Karts - miniature golf, go karts, other "dry" activities 11 a.m.-6 p.m. See www.codygokarts.com for pricing.

• Every Saturday - Outdoor farmer's market, downtown Parkade Plaza. Produce, crafts, etc. 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Also, open air market @ Garden Glove Garden Center (1800 E. 12th). Crafts, produce, flowers, meat, live music, etc. 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

• The Salvation Army (1020 N. Adams) – 1 Day of Giving Hope to Someone in Need presentation and luncheon. 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Free will offering.

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. 4th) - Dance to Jim Calhoun. Open to public. Starts at 7 p.m.

• Cedar Bowl (1100 S. Jeffers) – Cosmic bowling under black lights. 8-11 p.m. $4 per game.

• A to Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – West central Nebraska’s Open Mic Nite. Established performers and newcomers. 7-10:30 p.m. Free-will donation. Refreshments provided or bring your own.


Saturday, Sept. 8

• Downtown – Colonel Cody’s Cruise Show and Shine. The best in restored classic autos on display. All day. No admission charge.

• Wellfleet – Wellfleet Fall Festival with events around the village all day including a horse race on main street, free BBQ, mountain bike cross country ride and mud volleyball.

• The Bar (101 W. First, Hershey) – Benefit auction for Everett “Skeeter” Thompson with pulled pork sandwiches and salads. Noon-5 p.m. Free will donation. Live music by Innocent Mischief.

• Cody Park – Doggie Dash 5K Run/Walk, a run that can be done with a dog. Registration at 8:15 a.m., event at 9 a.m. Adults $25, youth $20, families $55. Biscuit Bite-Off Contest, homemade dog treat contest judged by dogs participating in Puppy Olympics at 10:30 a.m. Puppy Olympics with eight contests for dogs and owners from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.


Sunday, Sep. 9

• Memorial Park - Col. Cody Show and Shine - Restored and customized auto displays, contests, awards.

• Cody Park – Arts in the Park. 1-4 p.m. Lots of crafts, arts, collections on display and for sale. Multiple displays. No admission charge.

• VFW Post 1504 - Live music/dance with Ray Mullen. Starts at 7 p.m. Public welcome.


Wednesday, Sept. 12

• Pop Corner (1847 W. A) – Live piano and song by Shermie Wiehe. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. Fourth) – bingo, total of 24 games, starts at 6:45 p.m.

• North Platte Senior Center (900 E. Tenth) – the Golden Classics, a four-piece combo, plays a dance. 7-10 p.m. $3.


Friday, Sept. 14

• Cody Park - Three-day Rail Fest festival begins at 4:30 p.m. Celebrating 150th anniversary of Union Pacific. Live music and dance with Gary Phipps Show (8 pm), train displays, minature rides, kids games, bus tours of Bailey Yard, arts & crafts, much more. No admission charge, most events are free.

• Cedar Bowl (1100 S. Jeffers) – Cosmic bowling under black lights. 8-11 p.m. $4 per game.


Saturday, Sep. 15

• Eagles Club (620 N. Chestnut) – dance to Maynard Zipf. Country, waltz, and polkas. 7-10 p.m. Cover charge: $5.

• Cody Park - Rail Fest. Celebrating 150th UP anniversary. Free breakfast, live music begins 7:30 a.m. (see separate schedule under local news). Bailey Yard tours, kids' games, equipment displays, arts, crafts, employee's picnic. After dinner dance to Centennials orchestra. Fireworks at dusk. Most events are free.

• Rail Bar - Singer/songwriter Brendan McNaughton performs live. 9 p.m.


Sunday, Sep. 16

• Cody Park - Rail Fest all day until 5 p.m. Bailey Yard tours, live music and acrobatics, kids' games, equipment displays, arts, crafts. Most events are free.

• Children’s Museum (314 N. Jeffers) – Story yoga, a class to tell a story using yoga postures. 10:30-11 a.m. Members free; Non-Members $4.

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. 4th) - Live music/dance with the Sundowners. Music begins at 7 p.m. Public welcome.


Friday, Sept. 21

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. 4th) - Dance to Jim Calhoun. Open to public. Starts at 7 p.m.


Saturday, Sept. 22

• Autumn Park Community Room (off of 900 E. Philip) – Third annual “Fall into Winter Craft Bazaar” with fall, winter, and holiday themes. 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

• A to Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – West central Nebraska’s Open Mic Nite. Established performers and newcomers. 7-10:30 p.m. Free-will donation. Refreshments provided or bring your own.

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. 4th) - Dance to the band Cruzin. Open to public. Starts at 6-7 p.m. in beer garden.


Sunday, Sept. 23

• VFW Post 1504 - Live music/dance with Ray Mullen. Starts at 7 p.m. Public welcome.


Saturday, Sept. 29

• Potters Pasture (Brady) – Campfire run with chili feed, s’mores, and live music. Live music by Paul Siebert. Starts at 5 p.m. Free laser tag at 2:30 p.m.


Sunday, Sept. 30

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. 4th) - Dance to Jim Calhoun. Open to public. Starts at 7 p.m.
