Troy Culpepper of North Platte was jailed Tuesday on weapons charges, after police allegedly found a stolen gun and knife in his car. Culpepper, 25, became a suspect in a burglary on Aug. 29, Police Information Officer Rodney Brown said. The alleged victim told the cops that four firearms, a knife and $1,000 in cash was stolen. Police received a tip a few days later as to the possible wherabouts of the weapons, and after investigating they suspected Culpepper of having at least one of the firearms. They obtained a search warrant and found a Steyr AUG .223 assault rifle in Culpepper’s car, along with a knife like the one that was reported stolen. Culpepper was found in a house nearby. Culpepper is a convicted felon, so a charge of felon in possession of a firearm was added to charges of burglary, possession of a stolen firearm and stolen property. His bond is set at $25,000.
