VB: Lady Irish win twice at homeTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte St. Pat's volleyball team swept a triangular on Tuesday by beating Dundy County-Stratton and Cambridge at the McGahan Activities Center.

The Lady Irish (3-0) played Dundy County-Stratton first and they swept the Tigers 25-16, 25-15.

In the first set against Dundy County (1-2), St. Pat's broke away fairly early to get the edge over the Lady Tigers.

Both teams battled for the first 10 points in the second set. But the Irish started to pull away after Shelby Allberry served for aces on two-consecutive plays that made it 10-7.

Soon, the lead became 19-13 after Kari Slattery served for a pair of aces and St. Pat's put away Dundy County-Stratton after that.

"We came out and played well," said Lady Irish coach Shelly Byrn. "We had good serving and passing. If we have good passes, we can do a lot with our offense."

In the second match, St. Pat's rocked Cambridge 25-9, 25-9. To start the match, the Irish scored the first four points with Brook Boucher serving. From there, the Lady Irish never looked back in the first set.

The second set started the same way, with St. Pat's scoring four straight. But after the Irish got the serve back at 5-1, Bree Saner ran off 11 points in service for a 16-1 lead.

Cambridge (0-3) made a run of sorts late but the Trojans still couldn't get to double figures before the Lady Irish finished them off.

"Any coach would be happy with two wins," Byrn said. "There's some things we've got to work on for tomorrow night before we get ready to play Broken Bow and Cozad on Thursday. Then we play Gothenburg next Tuesday."
